Fiona McLachlan Powell

Fiona is a studio holder at the Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop.
She has shown work in several places including the Scottish Sculpture Park in Argyll, Saltaire Art Trail, the Edinburgh Collective Gallery ‘Not going back to normal’ and she is currently working with a community archaeology project in the Whiteadder Valley.
Fiona's artwork delves into the realms of both real and imagined thresholds and systems, employing sculptural textiles and drawings.
Her exploration encompasses memory and the traces of human presence in diverse landscapes, aiming to reveal insights into the present by delving into the past. Through ongoing projects like her depiction of the Bondagers, Scottish female laborers, Fiona examines the intricate connections between human empathy, alienation, and abstract systems.
She lives and works in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Fiona and Clive work together regularly. Their projects include the Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop Bell Project, they participate in the group IMP - In My Presence (a sculpture, sound and dance improvisation group) , and the project Burrow Knowe for Tokyo’s Siren Records.
