Huai-ya Lin

Kaohsiung, Taiwan 1995

MA Contemporary Art Practice at the Edinburgh College of Art - The University of Edinburgh (2018)

Huai-ya Lin’s work involves text art, including poetry, screenplay, artist book, installation and journalism. With her background in linguistics and literature, and her professional practice in the design industry, Huai-ya’s work draws upon contemporary issues through combining the method of speculative design and the artistic expression of fiction writing. Her interest in language and cognitive science also brought her to the fascination of inter-sensory literary expression, text visualization and spectrogram.

Her current work in O.V.O. looks into assisted dying (euthanasia and assisted suicide) in threefold; 1) the present situation involving the healthcare system, domestic resources and philosophical reasonings of doctors and patients, 2) the potential practices in the future that can be supportive to the process and all the stakeholders, 3) the generational difference in approaching both death and assisted dying.

We were honored to show her work in our Volume V.
